FRANKLIN COUNTY TECHNICAL SCHOOL STUDENT COUNCIL

Here at FCTS we believe in Community Service.

And we believe in the power of a good meal cooked with love.

That's why we support Meals on Wheels.

Every year FCTS hosts the annual walkathon - folks from all around Western Massachusets gather for fun, music, raffles, and exercise. It gives people a chance to visit the FCTS campus, and it gives us the opportunity to give back.

For the past two years, the FCTS Student Council has contributed to Love Letters - a campaign to help make sure every elder who receives a meal also received a handmade card on Valentine's Day. We are continuing our commitment to Meals on Wheels by fundraising for the Walkathon.

Elders receive hot meals and a wellness check every day - for FREE!

I can attest to the power of this program:

My father was a Meals on Wheels recipient.

The peace of mind I had knowing a friendly face would check on him once a day while I was at work was priceless! I could continue to work at a school I loved while knowing my father would have a hot lunch delivered to his door - and if he didn't answer, I would get a call to alert me.

Help us keep support homebound elders and their caregivers through this amazing program.

For just ten dollars, you can cover a week of meals! Please help us meet the goal of providing a year of meals to one deserving elder.

THANK YOU

Heather Richard, School Librarian & Student Council Advisor

ABOUT Meals on Wheels Walkathon 2016

If you knew your elderly neighbor was too frail or sick to cook for themselves tonight, would you bring them a meal? Of course you would! You'd simply want to help. That's why I am walking in the annual Meals on Wheels Walkathon on Saturday, April 30, 2016. Please join me in supporting our elders and pledge your financial support today.

With your help, we can ensure that our homebound neighbors will get a hot, balanced meal delivered by a compassionate volunteer driver in a manner that protects their privacy and preserves their dignity. Your pledge means that Meals on Wheels can say "yes" to every elder who requests their help.

Every penny of your pledge stays in the community. Meals on Wheels delivers an average of 550 meals every weekday to elders in 30 towns, including all of Franklin County and the North Quabbin. So please join me in supporting Meals on Wheels.

Thank you!
